Meet Prensnelo
Artist, educator & the creative force behind Amical Art Academy
Amical Art Academy is the creative home of artist Prensnelo (Jean Renel Pierre Louis), Haitian-Grenadian painter based at Sans Souci, Saint George, Grenada.
Amical — meaning “friendship” — was established in March 2015 to promote Haitian-Grenadian cultural exchange through painting, drawing, music, film, theatre, dance, and Haitian Kreyòl language classes. A second studio space in Brigue, Haiti supports classes for children there.
His practice moves between painting and experimentation across styles — from intimate acrylics on canvas and handmade paper to large expressive works and the mixed-media Feutersoey series.
Residency
Invited to Grenada for a 3-week residency in 2014 — stayed on, painted 60+ works, held six exhibitions and workshops.
Slovenia
Artist workshops and school visits in Mengeš / Spodnji Brnik (2015), painting on migration, goats and mountains.
Community
Painting activities for young artists, community art centres in Brigue & Petit-Goâve, Haiti.
